A collection of 5000 unique collectible NFT characters that power a DeFi centric DAO, donating its proceeds to good causes.
We’ve been hiding behind our anon avatars for years now. This was my chance to finally meet my friends and connect with my tribe.
I needed to find a ticket. Now.
After weeks of postponing to buy a ticket due to the Corona virus 🦠 and not being fully vaccinated yet, I started looking as soon as I received both of my shots 💉.
I decided to test my luck on the secondary market. After getting a tip to check out the ETH.CC Telegram Community, I decided to go for it.
It was a risky shot because everyone knows Telegram is ridden with scammers (🚨#1). But I did it anyway. I sent a message in the ETHCC Telegram server asking if anyone had a ticket to spare. A few minutes later I received a private (🚨#2) message back from Anthony G., who offers to sell me a PDF ticket. What a nice bloke. Lucky me.
Anthony G. was well spoken and I was in a hurry. I sent him some USDC before I even realised it. I trusted him. After all, he was one of us. One of the broski’s from the community I love so much.
By the time my transaction got confirmed by the Ethereum nodes it dawned on me I took a terrible bet. A terrible bet, which I’ve lost.
Anthony G. stopped responding to my messages. I realised I fell victim to FOMO and just sent my money to a well spoken blockchain scammer. My gut feeling was wrong and I trusted a malicious actor.
Perhaps I shouldn’t be buying expensive conference tickets from anonymous Telegram users in the middle of the night…
Anyway, no ticket. No ETHCC4. No Paris.
After a short pep-talk from my lovely girlfriend ♥️ and with the words of Johann in mind, I decided to not let this exchange have a negative influence on me or my surroundings…
I brushed off the frustration and got inspired.
I got inspired and challenged myself to try and (l)earn my losses back. Why not use this moment to try and do something good for the world? By doing this I could turn around the negative energy, removing the grain of sand and changing something throughout the immeasurable whole. Johann fucks.
I set out to build something fun and valuable for our beloved Ethereum community:
CryptoCrooks: A Generative NFT Collection and Non-Profit DAO. 👇🏽
CryptoCrooks is a limited collection of 5000 unique collectible NFT characters that are programmatically generated from a set of more than 7 traits and 50 attributes. All CryptoCrooks are stored as ERC-721 tokens on the Ethereum blockchain and hosted on IPFS.
Each character grants you a vote in the CryptoCrooks DAO.
80% of minting fees are donated to a Gnosis multi-signature vault, which is controlled by the CryptoCrooks DAO. All proceeds are staked in yield generating strategies, which in their turn seed the DAO donation Fund.

Our CryptoCrooks DAO Vault is powered and protected by a Gnosis Multi Signature which currently needs 4 signatures to transact. These transactions are signed by our Omerta Guardians. Their names will be announced soon!
