The Power Of The First Day

I do remember the first day I took the sheet of paper to jot down something I can post on the Internet. I was scared that my future audience wouldn’t love me for what I was writing.

From the other side, I was sure I had to start writing because if I don’t… Writing is everything to me.

I’ve been working as a copywriter for many years. When I am writing a piece for my company (whatever it is: a blog post, a full article, a guest post), I feel empowered, alive, living up to my truest self. And if I don’t write, it freaks me out.

I had a dream. To start writing independently. But the same — I was desperately scared. So, I procrastinated and procrastinated. “I have nothing to say,” “Who would read me?” “I’m not native and, you know, they think that Ukraine — there’s nothing good about it,” and so many other haunting thoughts made me postpone the activity that makes me happy.

It was an ordinary day. Saturday. Somehow I felt that this day would be THAT FIRST DAY. THE FIRST DAY WHEN I START, feeling pessimistic about where it will lead me to and happy that I’ve just started.

So, I created an account in Medium and signed up to HARO hoping to meet media to write for. “Hey, people, I don’t need money, I just want to write for your audience. And believe me, there IS something good, even great about Ukraine. Because talent, mind, heart, intelligence have no nationality or race. Just let me show you this. With my article, you’ll get a unique, interesting perspective on things — a Ukrainian one — and it’s different here 🧠 and here ❤️. “

The very next day, I woke up inspired to continue what I started. This is the power of the first day — simply to start that day.
