Lost in Motherhood

The other day my motherhood war partner in crime video messaged me. I heard her and the words sank deep into my heart. Friend, I have been there. I have been in those moments, those words blipping in…

The fillip of NRC

The recent outbreak of NRC and the worsening situation of the so called Indians have led to major upheaval in the Assam. Although Congress vehemently charged BJP with defering NRC after elections, can anyone veto the orders of Supreme Court?

Congress was totally legitimate in stating that BJP tried its best to negate NRC at this point of time, when it is in dire need of massive support. Who would want such anarchy in the midst of first term of the government which by the way has no guarantee of reformation in the next term? Apparently, the displaced destitutes will be coaxed to think that the whole exercise was carried out at the behest of our beloved CM and his party, BJP. This may be the benign begining of the downfall of BJP in Assam. And now it makes sense for the centre to defer NRC, right?

BJP leaders have been so apathetic in all terms of NRC as they were quite expecting this sudden turn of events, having discussed the matter already with the foreign minister of Bangladesh and creating a parallel universe for the “un-citizen-ized”, if I may coin a term. The purveyors of this idealogy haven’t even thought of where would this lot of 40 million go? (or deport, I must say?)

Bangaladesh recently accepted millions of Rohingya refugees from Myanmar and would be more than happy to aid India in its noble pursuit of removing “no longer citizens”, given that it has the least amount of resources per person and Dhaka being the most populated city per square kilometres. Also, given that the displaced people come from a wide range of concoctions, Meghalaya has already closed its border as a sign of pointing out trenchant relationship.

The collegium at the Supreme Court should have looked after the matter, apathetically of elections, obviously, in thousands of ways unimaginable to us. That’s why it chose to roll out NRC at this point of time. However, the malaise of NRC all over India could seriously stall the success rate of BJP in the upcoming Parliamentary elections. Let’s hope for the best.
