Kdramas and My First Love

I was always an avid fan of anime, however, Korean dramas, or Kdramas, were an unexplored territory for me. They seemed distant, unfamiliar, and perhaps even a little strange. As a guy, it was not exactly the norm for me to indulge in such shows. Yet, everything changed when I met her — my first love.

She was enamoured by a newly released Kdrama called ‘Cheese in the Trap’. It was her enthusiasm that compelled me to venture into the realm of Kdramas. I began watching the show, not out of a deep-rooted interest, but simply to have something to discuss with her.

In those days, everyone seemed to harbour a secret desire to be a writer, to tell stories that could captivate hearts and minds. But fear, self-doubt, and the inertia of taking that first step held us back. I was no exception. The dream of becoming a writer lingered in my thoughts, but I never summoned the courage to pursue it.

Life went on, and circumstances led us to drift apart. Our paths diverged, and the connection we once shared became a cherished memory. However, fate had a surprise in store for me. One day, I unexpectedly ran into her again. It was a moment filled with both nostalgia and bittersweet joy.

That evening, as I returned home, I decided to rekindle memories by rewatching one of her favourite Kdramas, ‘Chicago Typewriter’. In this series, the main lead is a writer and he post serial literature online.

So, thank you, to Korean Dramas and my first love. This isn’t some grand acceptance speech or an award ceremony (after all, I only have 6 followers), but rather a genuine expression of gratitude for the way you’ve reignited my passion for writing. Writing may be a humble endeavour with only a few sets of eyes, but the joy it brings me is immeasurable. Through Kdramas, you have reminded me of the incredible power of storytelling, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
