Revised Enlightenment

A Poem

They promised us all the same faculties
that we absorb the world
in such similar fashion
Instead of the madness that gets
so radical
and long live discontinuity*
It’s been done
but that would be to assume
a one-off scenario for which the play
has yet to be accused
Your temptations have been rendered
useless and variant
merely corrupted versions of sense
But the writer complains
and whines about revisions
the timing of the criticism totally undoing
all the wasted efforts from before
You’re brilliant
you’re conceited and then you walked
away
to determine the newest alienation
swellings of refusing to remember
all the ideation that got you to here
